They’re thick, crunchy chocolate cookies, filled with chunks of milk and white chocolate, completely smothered in a thick layer of milk chocolate. At Dalriata, we love to feature products from independent Irish manufacturers, and East Coast Bakehouse is just that. They’re a relatively new company, founded in 2016, but they’ve already gained a reputation for producing biscuits of the highest quality. They’re based in Drogheda, Co. Louth, a short way from the Irish Sea coastline which gives them their name, and their shiny new factory is packed full of state-of-the-art equipment. This means their products are absolutely consistent every time, but still have that home-made taste.
These particular chocolate chip cookies are a real treat. We don’t think we’ve ever tried another cookie which is covered in so much rich, delicious milk chocolate. And the real chocoholics among you will be happy to hear it doesn’t end there. The biscuit is packed full of chocolate chunks – not chips, chunks! It’s a mixture of milk and white chocolate pieces, big and soft and utterly delightful.
As for the cookie itself, well it’s pretty chocolatey too! This is a crunchy cookie, so fans of soft cookies will have to look elsewhere, but we think this way works even better, thanks to all the chocolate inside and around the biscuit.
Slip a few of these onto the plate at tea-time and you’re guaranteed to have you guests asking you where you found them. And of course, you can tell them – Dalriata!
