Cadburyโs first came out with the Wispa in the early 1980s, and itโs been a firm favourite ever since. In fact, when it was withdrawn in the early 2000s and replaced with a Dairy Milk bar, its fans missed it so much that they started an Internet campaign to bring it back โ and won! Since then it has remained steadily popular in the UK and Ireland. Now, by popular demand, here they are at Dalriata!
Why are Wispas special?
What makes a Wispa unique is its crumbly, yet velvety texture. This is a result of thousands of tiny air bubbles trapped inside the chocolate, which give it a satisfying crunch as well as a smooth, rich chocolate flavour. The chocolate itself is just the same as youโll find in other Cadburyโs bars โ but the experience of eating a Wispa is quite different. Somehow it manages to have a satisfying, crunchy bite, but also a velvety mouthfeel.
Thereโs some interesting science at work here: the way we experience chocolate has as much to do with its texture as with its ingredients. Wispaโs bubbles give it an extremely high surface area to volume ratio, which makes it melt in the mouth faster โ itโs the same effect that makes Cadburyโs Flake so crumbly, but itโs even stronger here. A Wispa starts to melt almost as soon as you put it in your mouth, and it feels luxuriously creamy.
Our customers here in our Berlin store canโt get enough of the Cadburyโs Wispa, and weโre always struggling to keep them on the shelves. So why not order one online today instead? Itโll make a perfect little treat after your fry-up.
