What is Galaxy chocolate?
Galaxy chocolate has been around since 1960, and is a sub-brand of the world-famous Mars confectionery company. At a time when the UK was finally throwing off the shackles of post-war food rationing, this new brand aimed to give people a unique feeling of indulgence and pleasure with every one of its products. Gone were the days of poor-quality chocolate (or none at all!) – here was something silky, smooth and sophisticated for a new age of plenty. It quickly became a favourite, and over the decades the range has grown, but our favourites are still good old Minstrels!
Long before M&Ms arrived in the UK, Galaxy Minstrels were the sweet that “melt in your mouth, not in your hand”. And we think they still hold a better claim to this epithet – the sugar coating on a Minstrel is significantly thicker than an M&M, meaning they’re much better at resisting body heat. And as for the chocolate inside that shell – well, we think it’s in a totally different league.
